Editorial

Firstly, welcome to the Winter Newsletter, the last of 1986. To all of you who came to the recent AGM Weekend, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thank you again to Glorishears for organising it superbly. We have continued to be lucky, not only with the weather, but al o with sides offering to host AGMs. The arrangements for next year are already underway, and the hosts (Old Palace Clog with Jackstraws, Red Stags, etc.) came to our recent marathon weekend committee meeting to get everything started off. After seven years of being in the North or the Midlands, we’ll be well down south in 1987.

As the discussion at the AGM was in favour of contact with the other Morris organisations, I am at present arranging another meeting with the Morris Ring, when I shall have a chance to meet the new Squire, Geoff Jerram. By the time this Newsletter comes out, I and Sue Swift will have been to the Open Morris AGM as Morris Federation representatives. I was glad to welcome both Gordon Monks, Chairman of Open Morris, and Ray King, who retired as Squire of the Norris Ring earlier this year, to our AGM this year. This was the first time all three organisations had been represented at one meeting.

After so many years of little or no contact, this promises well for the future. We may not see eye to eye on everything, but we should at least be able to live together.

Happy Christmas
