John Bacon [deceased], past President (2000 – 2003), Advisor on the Licensing Act (2004 – 2019) – Honorary Life Member (2013)
Nomination by Jenny Everett (Westrefelda) at our AGM in 2013:
I propose that John Bacon be awarded Honorary Life Membership for his services to the Morris.
He was tireless in working to obtain the exemption for Morris dancing under the Licensing Act 2003 both during and after his term as President. He was also instrumental in encouraging the formation of the Joint Morris Organisation committee which has since become well established.
EFDSS Gold Badge
John Bacon was also awarded the prestigious EFDSS Gold Badge by the English Folk Dance and Song Society in 2018, see his Citation written by Barry Goodman. He received his Gold Badge at The Morris Federation AGM held at Cecil Sharp House, London, in September 2018.
