John Bacon [deceased], past President (2000 – 2003), Advisor on the Licensing Act (2004 – 2019) – Honorary Life Member (2013)
Nomination by Jenny Everett (Westrefelda) at our AGM in 2013:
I propose that John Bacon be awarded Honorary Life Membership for his services to the Morris.
He was tireless in working to obtain the exemption for Morris dancing under the Licensing Act 2003 both during and after his term as President. He was also instrumental in encouraging the formation of the Joint Morris Organisation committee which has since become well established.
John Bacon was also awarded an EFDSS Gold Badge in 2018, see: Citation by Barry Goodman. He received the Gold Badge at The Morris Federation AGM held
at Cecil Sharp House, London, in September 2018.
