Editorial

I’ve had a great 3 years as Editor of this Newsletter. It’s been an honour to be part of the MF Committee and to be able to produce it and its members voice, the Newsletter.

When I volunteered to be Editor I knew it was going to be hard work…I vowed to stay up every night until the copy was ready so as not to miss a deadline! At times this has been harder than I could imagine. My Mum was terminally ill, 150 miles away, during 2002; I got married late 2002; took on a new job during 2003; became an Aunty again during 2003; danced rapper at DERT in 2002, 03 and 04; travelled to London for regular Committee meetings; attended 3 MF AGMs; plus fitted in all the usual Morris and folk festivals and weeks away dancing with 2 Morris sides!
However, this last edition has been a relative ‘dream’ to put together. The quality and quantity of contributions has been high, which means that we’ve got a bumper 40 page issue – a ‘winter’ special!

Look out for the first of a two part article from the legendary Sid Kipper …hopefully the start of many more to come. There are two reviews of the MF Day of Dance and AGM, complete with some pictures to give you a taster of the day. The front cover photo of Stony Stratford Mummers was taken on the Day of Dance… which included an impromptu performance at a couple’s wedding! The torchlit procession through Kendal the night before and the smooth running of the weekend made it one to remember.

There are also two reviews of the step clog workshops organised by City Clickers. I attended the day as a participant and it was brilliant! Congratulations City Clickers on a great day.
