Summary

Issue 53 of The Nut (Summer 2016) is a substantial, reflective issue shaped by the aftermath of DERT 2016 in Manchester, hosted by Medlock Rapper. Central articles examine the pressures of DERT’s rapid growth, changes to the Traditional competition, and the creation of a formal DERT Steering Group to improve governance, continuity and transparency.

Results and photographs capture a high-energy weekend, while features include a personal “Who’s Who” essay on rapper as family, a lively Kingsmen tour report from the Basque Country, and an announcement that Dancing England will be rebooted after thirty years. Extensive Rapparound news rounds out an issue focused on sustainability, community voice and the future direction of rapper sword dancing.
