Keith Leech will start with the history of the annual Hastings Jack in the Green event on the May Day Bank Holiday, with the background to how it started and has evolved, followed by a Q&A session on how to manage this type of event. Keith is a long-time member of Mad Jack’s Morris and was instrumental in reviving the tradition in Hastings and is a usually seen dressed as a "bogie" or green man, one of Jacks' attendants, during the procession on the May Bank Holiday. For anyone curious about how clogs are made, Simon Brock reveals all from his workshop in Sheffield. This is a live demo showcasing some of the tools unique to this endangered craft. He will discuss the main stages in creating soles and uppers, and how they're put together to make something you can dance in. 3 consecutive workshops. Lin Steel and Andrew Knight will teach a Cotswold morris jig (solo dance) over 3 weeks, for those with some dance experience but that may be new to Cotswold morris.  The dance is 'Jockey to the Fair' from Ilmington.  They will cover warming up, Stepping, Choruses and Slows; building to the complete jig in the third week. For anyone curious about how rapper swords are made ... Frank Lee reveals all from his workshop in Brampton, Cumbria. Frank will explain the processes involved in making rapper swords, the way he has made them since 1977, and demonstrate them using video clips.  The processes will start from raw materials and work through to a finished product.  Frank will explain how the processes have evolved, and mention alternative methods as he goes. 2 consecutive workshops on 2nd & 9th January. Georgia Shorrock of Hadrian Clog will teach a Clog Stepping routine over 2 weeks, for those with some dance experience but that are absolute beginners to clog dancing.  If you fancy having a go, Georgia will teach the basic steps along with some Lancashire Waltz steps so you will be able to dance your first clog routine. A series of 2 one hour teaching sessions (over Zoom) to build to the performance of a clog stepping routine. Malkin Morris will teach a North West Processional Dance from Nelson, Lancashire, with a brief intro to the dance research, a practical session for you to learn the dance, and a Q&A. Geoff Roberts will talk about making a Morris beast - held up by a single pole with the carrier under a fabric body.  He has already made 3 beasts in his morris career, using just a workmate and some basic hand and power tools.
