2 Workshops – Clog Stepping for Intermediate – Melanie Barber
Melanie Barber will teach the Whitby Toesday Waltz for Intermediates, comprising ten steps, which she wrote for the Whitby Folk Week Community Facebook Group in 2016. As it’s an intermediate workshop, participants should have a good basic knowledge of clog techniques such as shuffles, swanees and crunches.
A series of two 1.5 hour teaching sessions (over Zoom) to build to the performance of a clog stepping routine.
The dates are:
Sunday 7th March (week 1) / Sunday 14th March (week 2) both at 11:00-12:30
Equipment Needed
Clogs or hard soles shoes are required, plus a hard surface to dance on, e.g. wooden floor, wooden board.
Your hosts
Melanie Barber started clog dancing in 1979, learning from Sam Sherry and Pat Tracey, and collecting steps from Bill Gibbons and Bert Bowden, and has been teaching clog since the early 80’s. She was a founder Lancashire Walloper, then a member of Camden Clog, and now dances with Strictly Clog.
Mike Adamson learnt to play the melodeon in 2006 for Hammersmith Morris, and started playing for clog and North West Morris in 2007. Melanie & Mike formed Three’s a Crowd in 2014 having started to do solo bookings.

The Zoom link will be the same for the 2 sessions.
