50 videos of 50 sides for the Morris Federation’s 50th anniversary!
The Morris Federation is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. To celebrate this occasion during 2025 we will be publishing short videos which feature 50 Morris Federation sides.
The videos will be available on YouTube. In addition we will be inviting the featured sides to download videos of their side which they are free to use as they see fit: the videos could be uploaded to the side’s YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or similar video hosting account; posted on social media services such as Facebook; added to the side’s website – or used in other ways as the side sees fit!
Featured side
Rivington Morris are a Women’s team of North West Morris Dancers #northwestmorris. We practice on a Wednesday night in #location Bolton and welcome new dancers and musicians. We are easily identified in our kit of red skirts and purple sashes. Musicans may be of any gender, and wear black clothes.
These demure cultured women hail from Blackrod, near Bolton in Greater Manchester. Their clogs have been heard as far afield as Sidmouth, Germany, France, Holmfirth, Wigan, Accrington and Blackrod Carnival. Hundreds have looked on in awe and marvelled at their stunning stepping, precision, music and reinforced foundation garments. On-lookers have been heard to say “Rivington have that certain indefinable something that Northern teams have …” or “Make room – these Women take no prisoners”.
