Summary

The International Sword Spectacular Festival in York, May 2008, will showcase traditional sword dances from various groups. Highlights include performances by Kezka Dantza Taldea, known for Basque dances and the historic “soka-dantza”. The festival will also feature intriguing historical engravings and the reconstruction of traditional dances, such as the Pitmen’s four-man longsword dance from the early 19th century. Performances by teams like Austria’s Volkstanzgruppe Sankt Martin in Sulmtal and Boston’s Charles River Rapper will also be presented, offering a rich cultural experience.

Jack the Rapper, based in Norway, will return to Yorkshire. Austria’s Volkstanzgruppe Sankt Martin in Sulmtal will showcase their diverse dance repertoire. Charles River Rapper from Boston will perform alongside teams like Pas d’la Yau from Quevaucamps, Belgium, and Komna from Moravia, Czech Republic.
