Summary

This issue highlights various sword dancing events and news. Sullivan’s Sword celebrated its 30th anniversary with special Plough Sunday and Plough Monday events, raising funds for the Tsunami appeal. Flamborough’s sword dancers raised £300 for local causes with their Boxing Day performance. The Dancing England Rapper Tournament (DERT) is scheduled for March 2006 in York. North British Sword will return to Belgium for a collaborative event. The Sword Dance Union held its inaugural meeting in York, aiming to promote sword dancing. Southport Swords participated in the Monkseaton Morris Weekend. Ryburn Longsword debuted a new dance at Sowerby Bridge’s Rushbearing.

The featured events include Sullivan’s Sword’s celebrations in Morton, Fiskerton, Rolleston, and Radford (Notts), Flamborough’s Boxing Day performance in Bempton and Flamborough, DERT in York, North British Sword’s visit to De Panne, Belgium, Southport Swords at Monkseaton Morris Weekend in South Shields, and Ryburn Longsword’s performance at the Rushbearing in Sowerby Bridge.
