Morris Matters was started by Windsor Morris as a magazine/discussion forum for the Women’s Morris Federation (WMF) and initially was circulated with the quarterly newsletter The team all helped create the copy although the main contributors were Jenny Joyce and Alan Whear; the founders of Windsor Morris. Alan was the first male (co-opted) member on the WMF committee as magazine editor.

Beth Neill resurrected Morris Matters on the understanding it would be a neutral publication and would accept contributions from anyone, be they Morris Federation, Morris Ring or Open Morris or no affiliation at all.
