SUMMARY:Morris Federation Day of Dance and AGM 2017
DESCRIPTION:Welcoming you to Hull\, City of Culture!\nFour of Hull and East Yorkshire’s Dance Teams – Beverley Garland\, Green Ginger Garland\, Makara Morris\, and Rackaback Morris – are inviting all members of The Morris Federation to be a part of what promises to be a fabulous occasion on Saturday\, 23 September. \nThe day of dance will be followed by The Morris Federation AGM. \nAll the dance spots will be within walking distance of the historic Guildhall\, the base for the day as well as the evening ceilidh venue. \nIn preparation for Hull’s year in the spotlight\, extensive works have been underway during the past year to transform the city. By late September most areas should be completed\, with lots of lovely new squares and piazzas just waiting to be danced on. \nAmong the highlights of the day will be your chance to dance on the unique and award-winning Scale Lane Bridge – the only bridge in the UK where you can stay on it as it swings. You’ll also visit the Museums Quarter in our historic Old Town; Holy Trinity Church – Britain’s newest minster; the ruins of Beverley Gate\, a key site in the English Civil War; plus our lovely marina and up-and-coming Fruit Market area. \nPlease email as soon as possible to indicate your interest in dancing at this event and then download a copy of the editable PDF booking form (also available on the Hull Day of Dance website) and return it by 15 June 2017. \nThe 2017 day of dance\nEditable pdf booking form\nThinking of staying in Hull?\nHotel occupancy in the city is at an all-time high\, owing to the interest in City of Culture events\, so if you are planning to book accommodation\, you must do it at your earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment. Find out more information about Hull and where to stay. \n  \nArchival Information\nInformation about the event is available on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

SUMMARY:Joint Morris Organisations' Day of Dance 2017
DESCRIPTION:The JMO Day of Dance is a collaborative event organised in turn by one of the three morris organisations in the UK – The Morris Federation\, The Morris Ring\, and Open Morris. \nEach year the JMO Day of Dance is held in a different location. The three organisations rotate the organisation of the event with a member side offering to plan and host the day. \nThe day of dance is a celebration of morris and traditional dancing. Groups from the three organisations\, and performing many different types of traditional dance\, will be present in one location for one day only. This is probably the biggest annual gathering of morris dancers in the world. \n2017’s host side Leicester Morrismen were formed in 1953\, and initially met just to learn the dances\, with an occasional demonstration. They perform Cotwold Morris in the summer\, and Border Morris in the winter months under the guise of ‘Red Leicester’. \nFurther details to follow…\n \n

SUMMARY:Morris Federation Day of Dance and AGM 2016
DESCRIPTION:The Morris Federation and Mortimer’s Morris extend a warm welcome to all members of The Morris Federation to join us in a day of dance in Nottingham on Saturday 24 September 2016\, followed by The Morris Federation AGM at 4.30pm (4pm sign-in) at the Canalhouse. \nOur base for the day will be the function room above the Canalhouse\, 48-52 Canal St\, Nottingham\, NG1 7EH; telephone 0115 955 5060. We will have the function room for the whole day and this will be where you need to register in the morning (please aim to arrive between 09.30 and 10.00)\, and will be the venue for the AGM in the afternoon. The function room is wheelchair-accessible via a lift. \nAll dance spots are close to the city centre and within easy walking distance from the Canalhouse and from each other. Mortimer’s Morris stewards will show you the way. \nThere will be a lunch break in the schedule and sides can make use of one of the many eating establishments in the city centre. \nThere will be a ceilidh in the evening (at the same venue) with the well-known ‘Peeping Tom Ceilidh Band’\, with Martyn Harvey as caller; a chance to wind down and enjoy good company. Places at the ceilidh are strictly limited and will be sold on a first come first served basis. \nThe Canalhouse is a canalside pub in a former Fellows Morton and Clayton canal warehouse dating from 1894 (with a canal arm actually entering the bar area). It specialises in real ales and ciders\, as well as stocking over 250 world beers. Food is available and the pub have indicated that they would not be averse to music sessions in the bar. The pub is less than a quarter of a mile from Nottingham railway station and from the Station Street tram stop. Note that there is no car parking at the pub. \nPlease download the programme and application form for the day of dance: AGM and day of dance 2016. \nPlease note that applications to the day of dance are now closed\, but all members are still welcome to come and watch the dancing and to join us at the AGM.
