The policy which provides Public Liability cover for Sides who are full Members of The Morris Federation is included in your Membership subscription. See: Terms for Public Liability Insurance (PLI). Cover is provided worldwide except to the USA (see below). Michael has also written an FAQ sheet, see: JMO Insurance Advice and FAQ – key info is below: You need to advise Michael if you are planning any of the following: A Ceilidh where you are selling tickets to members of the public. This will, except for large events, not involve an additional premium but you still need to let Michael know details of the event. An Ale, where you only invite dancers / musicians and other halves, is covered. Use of fire (i.e. flaming sticks or other naked flame). You will need to provide a Risk Assessment for the event and Insurers will consider if they are able to provide cover and at what additional premium. The Risk Assessment should include such information as use of flame close to buildings and parked vehicles, prevention of setting fire to property and injury to members of the public, as well as Side members taking part. A trip outside the UK. For all trips outside the UK please inform Michael of the date of your first and last dance out, and the number of Side members taking part. For trips to the USA there is an extra premium – ask Michael for a quotation. For other trips outside the UK there is no extra premium, but Michael still needs to record it. Note that for all trips outside the UK, you still need travel insurance which will include personal liability.
